Sonus Faber Floorstanding Speakers Lumina III Black (Pair)
The Lumina III is the smaller of the two tower models. This model has the same D.A.D. tweeter as the others in a three-way design. You get a 150mm midrange driver that is also used in the next step up Sonetto series, coupled with dual 150mm bass drivers. Both use the special blend of fiber and pulp just like the drivers in the other series. The dual 150mm bass drivers were custom-developed for this series as well. The Lumina III also steps up the crossover to their “Paracross Topology™.” This is a design Sonus Faber originally came up with for their reference models and it has filtered down into almost all of the higher-performance models. They place some of the reactive components like the capacitors and inductors on the negative-rail of the circuit making it more like a semi-balanced design. What this does is reduce any radio frequencies these components might pick up - which provides for cleaner sound definition. The Lumina III is similar to the Lumina I in how you want to place it. We find it works better closer to walls, which makes it really easy to position in most rooms. Like the Lumina I, they get a little light in the bass if you move them too far out into the room. But boy, do these have fast, tight bass with a super-sweet midrange and top-end. You will need to use the included spike-kit, which raises the speaker off the floor since it has the downward-firing Stealth Port. Cups for hard-floors are included. I cannot think of an easier-to-place speaker in this price range that sounds so good.
The simple and squared design of the Lumina models was chosen to emphasize the quality of materials used. This principle of minimalism directly captures the essence of this thoughtfully designed product. The Lumina collection boasts the core values of Sonus Faber and the use of its iconic materials, including leather, natural composition of drivers, and real multilayer wood available in Walnut and Wenge wood with Maple inlay matte and Piano Black glossy finishes.
