Just In time for the holidays, Fred Perry has revealed a brand-new, dual-branded record player, which was made in collaboration with turntable innovators Pro-Ject. The collaboration pays homage to Fred Perry’s heritage, with three state-of-the-art turntables based on the brand’s iconic colorways: Maroon/White/Ice, White/Ice/Navy and Black/Champagne.
Crafted with the finest details, the Fred Perry-branded device is a hybrid version of two of Pro-Ject’s most popular turntables: the Essential and the Debut. Emblazoned with Fredy Perry’s 30 Leaf Laurel Wreath motif, the record player is completely original to the fashion label. Following its founding by the namesake triple Wimbledon champion Fred Perry in 1952, the brand quickly shot to popularity in high demand, thanks to the sports star’s signature “Fred Perry fit” polo shirt, which now dons the aforementioned tones.
Pro-Ject, on the other hand, was established much later by analog music aficionado Heinz Lichtenegger in 1991, when compact disc players had launched and vinyl was declared dead. Suffice to say, Fred Perry’s original Pro-Ject turntable is just as sleek as its decades-old clothing designs — but it truly stands out for its cutting-edge technology. The Record Deck is now available on the brand’s website for £450 GBP. Take a look at the device in the gallery above.
