Featuring integral pop protection and shock-mounting plus a large-diaphragm true condenser capsule and transparent Class-A circuitry, the Shure SM27 microphone is built to deliver quality and neutral tone in the studio or on stage without bulky accessories. Its flat frequency response and selectable settings—two low-cut filter options and a -15 dB pad—make the SM27 honest and versatile, so it can be used on anything from vocals and guitars to drums and piano.
The uniform cardioid polar pattern of the SM27 helps reduce the capture of stage bleed and background noise, allowing you to achieve more gain and stronger direct sound. The built-in pop protection utilizes three separate layers to minimize noise from vocal plosives, breaths, and even light wind. In addition to the internal shock-mounting, the mic comes with a rubber-isolated shockmount to further decouple the mic from sources of vibration. Being a solid-state XLR condenser mic, the SM27 requires 48V phantom power.
Built for Studio and Stage Use
The SM27 is a rugged and versatile large-diaphragm, side-address cardioid condenser microphone. It has low self-noise and extended frequency response that picks up vocal and instrument nuances with clarity. With durable metal construction, integral pop protection consisting of three layers that reduce wind and breath noise, and integrated shock-mounting to reduce handling and stand noise, it is competent both in the studio and on stage.
Large-Diaphragm True Condenser
The true condenser capsule features a 1" low-mass Mylar diaphragm for excellent transient response and flat, neutral sonics. The uniform cardioid polar pattern provides superior off-axis rejection to reduce the pickup of stage bleed and background noise.
Class-A Circuitry
Equipped with a Class-A, discrete, transformerless preamplifier, the SM27 offers transparency, extremely fast transient response, and no crossover distortion while minimizing harmonic and intermodulation distortions.
Pad and Low-Cut Filter Settings
Tracking drums or cranked-up guitar cabs? Switch on the -15 dB pad for distortion-free performance consistency across a wider range of high SPL sources. The low-cut filter can be set to 80 or 115 Hz to help reduce unwanted background noise or counteract proximity effect for consistent, extended bass.

My choice fell on SM27 mainly because of its price and experience with SHURE. I had several microphones from this company and all of them have established themselves from the best side. Urgently needed a high -quality and inexpensive option for recording guitars and percussions for the project. It was decided to take this model for a bunch with another microphone. It is great for recording acoustic instruments and vocals. If you are looking for a microphone in terms of price-quality, then you should pay attention to Shure SM27.
