90 x 90° Silicon Composite Hybrid Tractrix Horn
Klipsch's proprietary Tractrix geometry in the horn is specifically crafted to efficiently transfer the high frequencies of the tweeters to the listener. This second-generation Tractrix horn is larger for better directivity and a wider overall soundstage. The Tractrix horn can accomplish this level of audio fidelity and smooth frequency response by being combined with a phase plug and a compressed molded silicon face.
LTS Titanium Diaphragm Tweeters
Part of Klipsch's Reference line, the LTS (Linear Travel Suspension) works to minimize distortion for more detailed audio reproduction.
Vented Tweeter Design
The housing of the tweeters in this pair of surround speakers clarifies the high-frequency signal by reducing standing waves that would otherwise create unwanted harmonics.
Cerametallic Woofers
Another signature aspect of Klipsch's Reference Premiere speakers are the Cerametallic woofers. These surround speakers are equipped with dual 5.25" woofers and the Cerametallic construction keeps them lightweight, yet rigid, to both maximize acoustic efficiency and minimize distortion. In the second generation, voice coils are 70% larger in diameter to ensure flawless reproduction with better power handling, cone control, and linearity. The addition of aluminum shorting rings adds to the improved power handling and lower distortion, while the motor structure itself improves the transit response adds more control with increased speed and improved accuracy.
Improved Input Panel
The RP-502S II features audiophile-grade wiring and easily accessible aluminum binding posts for any connection type.
Premium Construction
Klipsch uses internally braced, furniture-grade MDF for a durable and attractive appearance. The ebony vinyl finish includes satin-painted baffles that have a scratch-resistant coating.
Magnetic Grille
You have the option of exposing the copper-colored woofer and tweeter or covering them up with a discrete speaker grille. The grille magnetically attaches to the front of the RP-502S II.
Paul W. Klipsch believed four principles to be the foundation for great sound. They continue to drive the design of every new Klipsch speaker, today and tomorrow: High Efficiency / Low Distortion Klipsch horn technology is highly efficient, providing more accurate sound with less power and less distortion – resulting in louder, cleaner audio. Klipsch’s Law: Efficiency is inversely proportional to distortion. Controlled Directivity Klipsch horn technology accurately directs sound to the proper locations, which, in turn, creates a more lifelike soundstage without wasting acoustic energy where sound is not needed or desired. Wide Dynamic Range The softest sounds are reproduced with remarkable clarity and the loudest sounds are delivered without harshness or distortion – with the greatest possible range between the softest and loudest sounds. Flat Frequency Response Audio is delivered without frequency bias – no unnatural highs, mids or lows – reproducing recorded sound as accurately as possible without colorization.
