KEF Reference 5 Meta Floorstanding Speakers in High Gloss Black Grey
KEF Reference 5 Meta are the flagship floorstanding loudspeakers in the latest Reference Meta range, sitting above the Reference 1 Meta stand mount and smaller Reference 3 Meta floorstanders.
For the past five decades KEF have been consistently improving and searching for the pinnacle in home speaker systems, for 2022 they have brought to the table a game changer in their flagship Reference 5 Meta.
New Drivers
On the Reference 5 Meta, KEF has taken a new approach to how their speakers are driven with an all new 12th generation Uni-Q driver array that includes a HF driver that is a 25mm (1”) aluminium dome with MAT which is also paired with a fantastic 125mm (5”) MF driver, which deliver a tight and punchy response which when combined with the quad 165mm (6.5”) bass units – you truly have the pinnacle of speakers at your fingertips.
Metamaterial Absorption Technology
Across the Reference Meta series, KEF has introduced a brand new technological advancement in MAT (Metamaterial Absorption Technology) which delivers a 99% absorption rate from the back of the driver – eliminating distortion to such a point where even the most sensitive of ear wouldn’t be able to discernibly pick it up. This technology is the next leap forward for your setup and will hold you in good stead for years if not decades to come.
Across The Frequencies
The Reference 5 Meta doesn’t just give you what the previous generation delivered, it takes it to a whole new dimension with a soundstage that delivers a free field (-6dB) response of 35Hz – 45kHz (short port), 32Hz – 45kHz (long port) and standard response of 40Hz – 35kHz. That means every single little nuance of audio will be given a fair hearing and chance to truly shine with the Reference 5 Meta
Amplifier Matching
With such an impressive cast of parts you would normally expect a speaker like this to require a serious amount of power, however on the Reference 5 Meta the power draw is only 50W to 400W, making them power efficient in your amplification setup – ensuring that they only draw what they need at the time.
