While DragonFly Black uses a high-quality headphone amp and analog volume control, DragonFly Red includes a more advanced ESS headphone amp and a bit-perfect digital volume control that resides on the 9016 DAC chip itself—a sophisticated implementation that gives Red a unique combination of power and grip over the music. DragonFly Black outputs 1.2 volts—enough power to successfully drive all preamplifier input circuits and a wide range of today’s efficient headphones. With its higher 2.1-volt output, DragonFly Red is compatible with a wider range of headphones, including power-hungry, low-efficiency models.
For your money is not bad
This is not a top DAC and the corresponding strapping
If the budget is extremely limited and there is a need to get a good sound from a USB PC port is an excellent choice. You should not, of course, expect a super sound or what separation of tools on the stage. It is wonderful to go to electronic music. Great as an amplifier to a capricious tight not very expensive headphones, up to $ 300. I recommend the purchase.

Sound
Probably the price
This is the first DAC to touch the sound of Hi Fi. Initially, I bought it with an adapter for the iPhone, the thing is generally super -mobility, although a little bulky. From the iPhone- the color is green, from the laptop- 96kHz- the color is pink. And from the computer, my Dali IO 6 actually played! Separately, I will say that for the correct sound, IO6 should be included in the noise!

Sound. Price
No
Suddenly ... very unexpectedly from such a small "dragonfly".
Such a small "flash drive" and such a change in the picture of sound.
I purchased a system to supplement the Hi-Fi, where the task was set to play music from the phone. Smartphone as a source of broadcasting, storage is a map of the smartphone. I achieved the goals of the set. The cheap Sony Xperia X smartphone in combination with the Dragonfly and the withdrawal of analog sound to the amplifier complemented the available Hi-Fi system.
He killed several birds with one at once with one shot: the need for a terribly expensive, crooked and non-ha-remead of a player disappeared. Xperia with a bang reproduces FLAC in Hi-Res quality through the Sony Music Center application (I highly advise this underestimated program).
Yes, I really forgot to say that the dragonfly and Sonya need to cling through the adapter on the USB. But there are no problems with this and this transition can be found in any store.
The Dragonfly Audioquest Dragonfly is very advised.

Warm "tube" bass sound and incredible power reserve on low -power headphones
restriction in the reproduction of hires in 96kHz
acquired for a replacement of a similar DACP from FIIO
The first impressions were not in favor of the "dragonfly", since FIIO has a more "fleshy" sound
But further listening showed the greater correctness of the "dragonfly" in the upper -frequency range
I compared with the OPPO DACT 2 in the salon Pult.ru (source - laptop) - absolute classmates, although Oppo is two times more expensive.
The conclusion is a very worthy DACA model, if not to say that the best model is in this price category.
What Hi-Fi? This has been confirmed for several years
Actually, I trusted the assessment of this publication, then there was a real opportunity to make sure that in comparisons with other DACs in this

Very good and balanced sound, quality at a height, an aluminum case with a coating.
I didn't notice the disadvantages, there’s nothing to complain about)))
Very stylish with good sound, pleasant to the touch, this DAC plays out any music simply brilliantly, conveniently take with him on the road, we can safely say that with good headphones this is a home audio system in miniature, I listen to the trio with Samsung S4, this DAC, headphones RHA 750MA, the sound is just awesome.
